Goat Babies Winter 2023

We had some babies.

One each from Lily and Dahlia. Dahlia initially had 2 but her little doe did not make it for some reason. She had decicided it was a cull before we had a chance to get her out and try to save her. We pulled the next morning after her birth but she passed sometime the second night.

Then a few nights later Lily had hers while we weren’t able to watch her. I thought it was Dahlia’s buckling still and saw a wet cold baby goat and pulled her out to dry her and then get her back. While in the house with her things were not adding up and then she peed and I said “rutrow” I think we got a new one here as Jack being a buckling pees from the middle of his abdomen and this one is peeing out the back. So I checked and sure enough it was a girl. I went back out to the barn and there was Jack safe and dry hanging out in the middle of the stall. Called into the house and told my brother to get the baby back out to its mother so she can finish bonding with her. We named her Dakota.

More pictures of the little ones Jack and Dakota as they grow. And they are growing fast. As of the end of March roughly 1 month old they are eating hay with their mothers.
